Dispelling the Myths of the ‘Romantic View of Creativity’

Dispelling the Myths of the Romantic View of CreativityI’m interrupting the August theme, Essentials of Story, briefly to bring you a link to an excellent post I found this week. Michael Hyatt, former CEO of Thomas Nelson publishing company, discusses what he calls the “Romantic View of Creativity” and outlines four false assumptions to this view some creatives have. For example, false assumption one: the creative life is easy, effortless. He then goes on to give creatives a dose of reality by offering four points “closer to the truth.”

The post is titled “Want to Earn a Living Creating? Here’s Your Mountain.” Give this one a read. It’s short but it can save a writer you know (maybe even you) from the myths that will keep creatives from succeeding.
